Data protection and privacy policy
Hurstpierpoint Society is a charity based in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex, United Kingdom.
This privacy policy sets out how www.hurstpierpointsociety.org.uk uses and protects personal data which is collected and processed by the Society, as a result of the changes in data protection laws in May 2018. We acknowledge that all personal data handled by the Society will be processed in accordance with current data protection law.
Types of information processed

– Membership Database
Gift aid: Hurstpierpoint Society retains records of members who have made a gift aid declaration in order to reclaim gift aid tax. If you NO LONGER qualify for reclaiming the tax and wish to cancel this, please contact the Membership Secretary.
Only Hurstpierpoint Society will process and have access to personal information and understand that it will also act in line with data protection principles, as follows:
- Ensure that any personal data is collected in a fair, and lawful way
- Explain why it is required at the start
- Ensure that only the minimum amount of information is needed, collected and used
- Ensure that the information used is kept up to date
- Ensure that it is kept safely
- Ensure that the rights that people have in relation to their personal data can be exercised
- Queries about handling personal data will be dealt with swiftly and politely
What do we do with the data gathered
- The Society collects information when you voluntarily submit it to us. It is your decision as to whether you wish to supply it.
- The Society will use data for your administrative purposes or membership queries, which are described to you at the point of collection.
- Hurstpierpoint Society may, from time to time, use the information to determine how we can improve our website www.hurstpierpointsociety.org.uk and make it more effective.
- To provide appropriate communication of our activities and events by email to those who have opted in to receive updates. Your data will not be shared with a third party, we will not sell, distribute or lease your personal data to third parties.
